15th anniversary of u201cSunny Susan'su201d Carcinoid web site www.carcinoidinfo.info. As of April 27, 2012, my web site has been on-line for FIFTEEN (15) years, since April 27, 1997. My site was the first one put up by a Carcinoid patient. May 10, 2012, shall be the 17th anniversary of my Carcinoid diagnosis! I provide information and links to information I wish had been on the internet when I started my research in May 1995. MY MISSION: Answer the emails from around the world, generated by my web site, and provide solid medical information and/or links to such information. Encourage people to: 1) learn all they can about their kind of Carcinoid/Cancer, 2) consult with a doctor experienced in Carcinoid, 3) do aggressive treatment, if appropriate for their case, 4) do not obsess over the disease, and 5) get on with life, give thanks for each and every day, and live life to the best of their ability. Each case is different: what I do is not correct for everyone but has worked for me for nearly SEVENTEEN (17) years. What is right for one person is NOT correct for another one. I believe in "The Golden Rule" and try to practice that. I believe many of us may lead a full and active life while LIVING with Cancer, and/or other chronic conditions. I also have Type 2 Diabetes. Since I am a u201cType Au201d and natural born optimist that helps. I consider myself an "advocate for Carcinoid Cancer and NeuroEndocrine Tumor (NETs) awareness". I am a survivor of Carcinoid Cancer and Breast Cancer. I really prefer to say I am a u201cWINNERu201d over these two very different kinds of cancer. Since 1996 --- when I first located others with Carcinoid --- I have answered every email sent to me, although some replies were delayed longer than I liked. I am NO longer able to reply to all e-mails due to the volume and other things going on in my life (all good). I do love hearing from others, but an unable to reply individually as often as I would like. I shall NOT forget my many Carcinoid friends and of course shall reply to you u2026 as time permits. This web site was 15 years old on April 27, 2012, and my plan is to keep it updated for many years to come! I have made many u201cfriends without facesu201d from around the world over the internet; and am fortunate to have met many of these on-line friends at conferences and other places over the years. My life has been enriched by the many interesting and courageous people I have met, currently u201cknowu201d, and am in contact with! I love and appreciate each and every one! In November 2004 I was honored to be invited to speak at the 1st International Meeting of Patient Self-Help Groups u201cCurrent standards in diagnosis and therapy of neuroendocrine tumorsu201d held in Berlin, Germany. I spoke on local support groups and my web site. In the summer of 2008 I was filmed and appear on the DVD u201cBe Well Informed About Carcinoid Syndromeu201d in the u201cHealthy Living Tipsu201d section that was produced by Axon Communications and Novartis Oncology. On April 26, 2009, I was on a panel u201cLiving With A Rare Canceru201d as part of the Carcinoid Cancer Foundationu2019s meeting u201cOn The Cutting Edge: Advances in Surgery for Carcinoid and Neuroendocrine Tumorsu201d held in the Goldwurm Auditorium, Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, New York. This panel made up of several Carcinoid u201csurvivorsu201d and me as also a u201csurvivoru201d of Breast cancer and one that urges other to really LIVE while dealing with our cancer. Since my husband "retired" early (Sept. 2005) I am away from my computer for days, and sometimes, weeks at a time. Yes, there is wireless internet and we have tried that in a number of places. But, if I deal with email when we are away from home then it is not a "restful vacation" for me. My husband, Howard, and I have resided in beautiful Tempe, Arizona, USA, for 29 years as of May. In Tempe the sun shines more than 300 days each year, the flowers are always in bloom, the birds are always singing, we usually have bright clear blue skies, and it is a great place to live, count our many blessings, and enjoy life! A large u201cTHANK YOUu201d to everyone who has visited my home page / web site, over the past FIFTEEN (15) years, and an additional very large u201cTHANK YOUu201d to those who come back again and again for information re: Carcinoid, medical tests database, drugs database, diabetes, breast cancer, other medical conditions, medical library, resources, coping, Bluegrass music, book information, book discussion groups, political issues, to look at photographs, view web cams from around the world, Arizona and western travel, or just to have u201cfunu201d via many topics! May 10, 2012, shall be the 17th anniversary of my Carcinoid diagnosis! Further below after the total number of visits to my home page by year. As you come back to my web site from time to time (if you do) be sure to check NEWS at the top of most of the pages. Remember that I believe the u201cgold standardu201d for a Carcinoid web site is the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, Inc. www.carcinoid.org New in 2010 the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, Inc. has a BLOG, do check it out at:
